Your 1st Treatment

Your First Treatment

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR CHIROPRACTIC OR OSTEOPATHIC FIRST VISIT

On arrival at Wellness Centre Newcastle you will be welcomed by one of our support team. If you have already completed a case history form, please give this to the member of staff, if not, you will be asked to complete this form on your arrival. This takes approximately 15 minutes. – Please note – if you have difficulty filling in forms, our support team will be more than happy to help you.

  • You will be introduced to your practitioner who will take you into a private room, where a more detailed case history will be taken.

  • A physical examination will then take place, which will include pulse and blood pressure readings.

  • Your practitioner will then study the way you turn and bend. They may test your reflexes and carry out gentle orthopaedic tests to help locate areas of your spine (and body) that are not functioning correctly and may be causing your problems.

  • They will study the results and discuss with you what they have found and the conclusions reached.

  • Your practitioner will recommend a specific programme of care, drawing on their vast knowledge of patients with similar symptoms or health requirements. If your practitioner does not believe they can be of assistance they will suggest an appropriate referral.

  • The practitioner will explain the fees and you will be given an indication of the time required to produce the desired outcome.

If it is your wish to continue with care and you have signed a “consent for care” form, the practitioner will locate and address your vertebral restrictions, and help to restore spinal function and muscle balance. – The intent is to restore your body’s ability to regulate and heal itself.

Your practitioner is committed to providing you with treatment that resolves your issues as soon as possible. For this reason they often utilise modalities such as ultrasound and western medical acupuncture to complement osteopathic and chiropractic techniques.

  • After your adjustment, a home care and lifestyle information sheet will be given.

  • You may be given a sheet on stretching and exercises (particularly core stability and spinal strengthening exercises) if required.

Your practitioner will endeavor to telephone in the next 48 hours to see how you are feeling and to answer any further questions you may have.

Just as ongoing brushing and flossing of your teeth promote dental health, we recommend regular spinal check-ups. Having your spine and nervous system working at their best is essential for great health. Your health influences everyone you know and love. Invest in a programme of regular care. You are worth it!
